15,000 roses for the return of Jaebeom

Amidst the unfortunate news regarding the closing of 2PM’sauction (due to two antis who were responsible for the whack bidding), K-Hottests have found yet another means of showing their support for the fallen leader of 2PM.

After having prepared for this event for 4 weeks, members of a 2PM union fancafe called Neo-Hottest adorned the exterior of the JYP Entertainment building with 15,000 origami roses that read “Waiting For Jay ♥” on October 25th and 26th. The purpose of this special occasion was to express the fanclub’s boycott against a 2PM without Jaebeom, who has resigned from his position as the leader of the 7-member group following the effects of the Myspace controversy.

A member of the fanclub stated, “Each paper rose was hand-made by many fans who shared the same hope that Jaebeom will return to 2PM as the leader. Since numerous people contributed to folding the origami, we hope that our efforts will not go unnoticed.”

After 7 PM on the 26th, the decorations were taken down by the fancafe.

Japan-Korea Joint Drama Production Team to Aim Asian Market

The plan to create dramas by the Japan-Korea combination is in the works. The idea is that Eriko Kitagawa, Shizuka Oishi and Miho Nakazonoa, who are all top writers of Japanese drama scripts, are to write scripts casting Korean stars such as TVXQ. All seven parts have been already completed and after this autumn, they are to be aired sequentially in both countries.

By “mutual entry,” it deepens the interchange of the people concerned and it is said that the participating parties aim more drama market expansion in Asia in the near future.

There is also the expectation of “breakthrough” in the Korean television industry which has a high regulation for Japanese dramas that are being aired. (Editor: Yoshihiro Kita)

The Japan-Korea telecinema planning meeting was held with Jaejoong from TVXQ, an immensely popular group in Japan, and Korean star Chi Jini, who starred in the popular Korean drama (in Japan) “Oath of Changum” and many other popular stars attended. The seven parts of the dramas were created with help from Japanese scriptwriters. A preview starts in August at movie theaters in Seoul, Korea. These dramas will be aired on TV and shown in cinemas after this coming autumn.

Both the Japanese and Korean sides will assemble full force in Seoul in the middle of September, and there will be many promotional events. In Japan, Asahi National Broadcasting will be airing these dramas in the future.

Chief Director Shinnichi Ichikawa of the Association of Japanese Broadcast Writers called for this plan and seven Japanese scriptwriters wrote original pieces. The making of the scenes and the photography have been pushed forward from summer last year.

The “taste” of dramas and how productions are lead are considerably different in Japan and in Korea. Sin Hyontek, the chairsperson of Korea / Miwa Networks (in-charge of this production) described that “Koreans love dramas that are alive with tears and laughter. Japanese dramas have this depth that is internal.” Also, Korean production is faster than the Japanese.

There are such differences and in the production spot, it was said that the Japanese scriptwriters received Korean supervision and the actors encouraged each other a lot. Chief Director Ichikawa mentioned that “Scriptwriters do not change their scripts easily even if revision is ordered by a supervisor.” As a result of some of the “clash,” a new charm may have been born between Japan and Korea.

A Korean drama earned popularity in Japan for these past few years and there was the feeling of one-sided unfavourable balance of the trade. Chief Director Ichikawa said, “Korean directors are excellent and their sense of work is very good, too.” Japan must make a drama that is acceptable in the whole of Asia in the near future.Triggered by this plan, it is expected that the Japanese and Korean’s co-created drama will sell in the whole Asian market.

Ryu Si Won and 2NE1

Ryu Shi Won released a photo on his Cyworld, which he had taken with 2NE1 during the August 12th shooting of SBS drama “Style,” in which idol groups 2NE1, 2PM and FT Island showed up to film their cameo appearances.

Ryu Shi Won stated, “a memory of filming with 2NE1, who I really like. They are so cool and cute. Very cute.” He also said, “the 30 hours of filming over the 2 days was extremely tiring, but because of all of the cameos, it was very fun and enjoyable. I’m very grateful to FT Island, 2NE1, 2PM and Bada.”

Most expensive star name?

The August 17th episode of the MBC culture program “Good Day” investigated the estimated value of the top celebrity names/trademarks.

In ascending order, sixth place goes to thespians Won Bin and Choi Ji-woo who tied with an estimated value of 30-40 billion won. Pays off to always have a movie or television role on hand~

Fifth place goes to Dong-bang-shin-ki with an estimated 40-50 billion won. Their name may not be number one, but that amount is nothing to sneer at; no wonder SM Entertainment is clamoring to get the trademark rights to the name DBSK.

Shinhwa may currently not be conducting activities as a whole group, but their name comes in fourth place with an estimated worth of 50 billion won. Being a “legend” for ten plus years doesn’t amount to just any chump change.

Her success in American may be somewhat questionable, but there’s no question that BoA could be confused for the “Bank of Asia” as she snags third place with an estimated value of 100 billion won.

No surprise here, second place goes to the mega hallyu star Bae Yong-joon with an estimated worth of more than 100 billion won. That Korean language DS game with his name on it must be selling like hot cakes.

First place with an estimated 180 billion won goes to none other than the Korea’s rock god, Seo Taiji. No wonder he was the first celebrity to have his very own credit card and cell phone named after him. His name just screams “$$$”.
